About Chinese Braille

Mandarin Chinese braille is phonetic: each syllable is built from a pinyin initial, a final and an optional tone, not from the Chinese character. Because a character’s reading depends on context, Chinese characters cannot be translated directly.

Enter Mandarin as pinyin with optional tone numbers (for example “ni3 hao3”). Chinese support is in beta.
